Boost for Bo'ness as tourism tour visits town

HISTORIC Kinneil Estate in Bo'ness will be one of the stopping off points for a "magical mystery tour"¯ next week.

The tourism body, Pride and Passion, is organising a trip around Falkirk district to showcase the area's "hidden gems". Tuesday's tour is being promoted to people working in the local tourism industry - to make them more aware of local visitor attractions.

Gillian Stirton, Pride and Passion's project manager, said one of the aims was to put staff in visitors' shoes. "The more businesses know about the local area, the better it is for visitors," she said. "And the better it is for visitors, the better it is for business."

The final itinerary for next week's trip around the district is being kept under wraps, but we can reveal that Kinneil Museum and neighbouring Kinneil House will be among the attractions on the tour.

Gillian revealed: "The tour aims to highlight some of the less obvious attractions - the hidden gems. Last year’s tours, run across Scotland, saw participants unanimous in their praise of this approach and the novelty of what they'd experienced."¯

Adrian Mahoney, the chair of the Friends of Kinneil, said: "We're delighted to hear that tourism businesses will be visiting the park next week. We're sure people will be impressed by the range of historic attractions at Kinneil, including the excellent Kinneil Museum, which is open throughout the winter months."

Some seats on the Falkirk district tour bus, which kicks off on Tuesday morning (February 20), may still be available. The free trip, which includes lunch and refreshments, is aimed at people working on the frontline of local tourism and retail outlets. Factsheets on the local area will also be distributed to attendees.
